About Shayna
Shayna Freedman is an actor, director, and educator, and holds an MFA from Shakespeare Theatre Company's Academy at George Washington University. Acting credits include Our Town, The Learnéd Ladies, The Servant of Two Masters, As You Like It (Classic Theatre of Maryland), and Richard II (Her Majesty & Sons). She most recently served as assistant director of Measure for Measure at Shakespeare Theatre Company's Academy.
As an acting coach, Shayna has worked with Netflix, Amazon, and Claro Video, and many talents, including Macarena Acahaga, Bárbara López, and Christian Chávez. Her teaching artistry received international recognition and was featured on the cover of Distrito Cultural magazine. She is founding faculty of Casa Spanda, a renowned acting studio in Mexico City, as well as a senior instructor of Lucid Body and the Director of the Lucid Body Teacher Training program at Lucid Body House, “home of the physical actor,” in NYC.
As an ERYT 500 yoga instructor, Shayna is an advocate of mindful practices for social change. She holds specialized certifications in yin, trauma informed teaching practices, and Lucid Body (a somatic and neuroscience-informed process for actors). Shayna is a lead trainer for RYT 200 training programs, and teaches workshops at studios and universities nationwide.
Shayna teaches with relentless love and belief in her students’ abilities. Her teaching is informed by stage intimacy guidelines, trauma-informed practices, and injury prevention. Shayna's expertise is movement and embodying text and language: she teaches humans how to unlock and reveal the hidden truths of the body for authentic expression and storytelling.
