About Shayna

Shayna Freedman is a classically trained actor and holds an MFA from Shakespeare Theatre Company's Academy for Classical Acting at George Washington University. Recent credits include A Christmas Carol (Classic Theatre of Maryland), Romeo and Juliet (Classic Theatre of Maryland), Man and Superman (Academy for Classical Acting), and All’s Well That Ends Well (Academy for Classical Acting).

 

As an acting coach, Shayna worked with the television ensemble of Desenfrenadas (Netflix) and Claramente (Claro Video), and many talents, including Macarena Acahaga, Bárbara López, Ximena Romo, Christian Chávez, and Claudette Maillé. Her coaching was featured on the cover of Distrito Cultural (April 2021 issue). She is presently a faculty member at Lucid Body House (NYC) and Casa Spanda (Mexico City), and a teaching artist at Shakespeare Theatre Company (DC).

As an ERYT 500 yoga instructor, Shayna is an advocate of mindful practices for social change. She holds specialized certifications in yin, trauma informed teaching practices, and Lucid Body (a somatic and neuroscience-informed process for actors). Shayna is a lead trainer for RYT 200 training programs facilitated by BambooMoves Baltimore and Breathe for Change, and the Director of the Lucid Body Teacher Training Program at the Lucid Body House in New York City. Shayna teaches workshops at studios and universities nationwide.
